Question: Is the setting of the story real or imagined?
Answer: The British Club is fictional but it was originally inspired by a visit to a down-at-heel club for planters and other expatriates in Fraser's Hill, Malaysia, and then flavoured by a number of similar sports and social clubs and associations in different parts of the world.
